How to Encourage-Listen

Do you know one of the easiest ways to encourage a friend or family member? It's simple, does not cost a cent and something that everyone can do!

But it does take concentration, focus, discipline to not interrupt and an awareness of your power. The answer is--learning how to listen to someone else.

Here is a simple acrostic to help you encourage another just by listening intently to them. You don't have to have all the answers to their problem, but you do need to LISTEN to them!

The six steps to becoming a better listener are

L: Look at the person speaking to you.

A: Ask questions.

D: Don't interrupt.

D: Don't change the subject.

E
: Empathize.

R: Respond verbally and noverbally.
